Designer

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Designer to join a leading independent trade publisher. Based in their offices in central London, you will produce high quality design for a range of non-fiction illustrated books.

 

Key duties:

  • Follow briefs to produce high quality design work for cover and interiors of illustrated books
  • Check design work, ensuring it is consistent and accurate and files are ready to print
  • Ensure design work is delivered on time and to budget
  • Attend meetings and provide guidance on potential design improvements
  • Ensure studio files are updated with clients’ briefs
  • Answer queries and act as studio’s main contact when required

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid design experience in highly illustrated books is essential
  • Experience of designing book covers and layouts, creating templates from own concepts
  • Excellent knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and X-Press
  • Solid knowledge of typography and colour correcting
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines with strong communication skills
  • A creative and flexible approach to work, able to adapt quickly and take feedback
  • A degree in Graphic Design or equivalent is required
