Designers

Our client, a successful Independent Trade Book Publisher in Suffolk is looking for 2 x Designers to join their growing team. The Children's Designer will be working on their core children's list (novelty/activity) and the adult designer will be helping shape their new adult imprint, working across adult books-plus, game packaging and stationery. If you have solid commercial design experience in Children's Books or Adult's Book plus then we'd love to hear from you! Based in Suffolk, this is a permanent role, and you can work from home 2/3 days a week once restrictions are lifted (remote working will also be considered for the right candidate). 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Take the creative lead on all aspects of design, layout and packaging for children's books/adult books plus projects.
  • Work closely with Managing Editors to deliver briefs and deadlines
  • Manage delivery of concept at meetings and at all stages of the design process
  • Project management and briefing of in-house artworkers, external freelance designers and illustrators.
  • Create production specifications for new book, books-plus and novelty book formats, including formats that are unique in the marketplace.

What you’ll have:

  • Solid design experience in a Trade children's books or adults illustrated books
  • Strong typographical and cover design skills, with a strong aptitude in Adobe Creative suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Ability to identify new design and illustration trends
  • Proven track record of preparing books for supply to printers.
  • Previous experience of Adults Books plus (stationery /games packaging and materials) would be advantageous for Adult Designer
