Desk Editor (STM)

A well-established publisher of scientific books and journals is looking for a Desk Editor to work on publications for the dentistry market.  Based in their offices in south west London, this is an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to join a friendly team.

 

Key duties:

  • Copy-edit and project manage STM books and journals through the editorial process
  • Manage the editorial production process from receipt of manuscript to delivery of the final product
  • Attend Editorial Board meetings in the UK and internationally when required
  • Liaise with colleagues in editorial and production and with authors externally

Experience / skills required:

  • Some solid hands-on editorial/production editorial experience in an STM publishing environment
  • An excellent eye for detail and strong copy-editing and proof-reading skills
  • Highly organised with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Word, Adobe Photoshop and a familiarity with journal management systems
  • A science degree (or equivalent) and an interest in scientific / medical text would be advantageous
  • A flexible and self-motivated attitude with a proactive approach to work
  • Ability to travel internationally
