Development Editor

Our client is a leading global publisher of professional and academic books across business, management and related subjects. They are now seeking a
Development Editor to work on their prominent HR and Business lists.

This is an ideal opportunity for a current editorial assistant or development editor to further their career and knowledge in a supportive, innovative and
successful company. This role is based in London.

Key responsibilities:
- Support the commissioning editors by working closely with authors, ensuring books progress efficiently and to schedule
- Read content and provide detailed feedback for authors based on an understanding of target readership
- Conduct peer reviews and market research, ensuring that appropriate reviewers are recruited and that authors are supported
- Work closely with colleagues from the marketing department to exploit promotional opportunities
- Work closely with production colleagues on manuscript handovers
- With support from the commissioning editor, undertake your own signing target

Experience / skills required:
• Prior experience in a books or journals editorial environment
• Proactivity, tenacity and good communication skills
• The demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects at various stages
