Development Editor for ELT Schools Publishing
Macmillan Education, part of the Macmillan Science and Education Group, is looking for a Development Editor to join its very successful English Language Teaching (ELT) department publishing for international Schools markets.
Working closely with the Primary Publisher and Commissioning Editor, the Development Editor will oversee the content editing of materials within the Primary publishing list. The successful candidate will work closely with authors and overseas offices to ensure that material meets market requirements and with the in-house project teams to ensure material is delivered on time and to budget. The role will also require close liaison with editorial freelancers as well as in-house design, digital and production colleagues.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent team-working and organisational skills, and be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of ELT markets and segments
- Appreciation for a wide international range of teaching and learning situations
- Awareness of publishing processes and how they impact manuscript development, and time and cost implications
- Attention to detail, quality control and an ability to engage with content at the highest level
- Market-focused ELT publishing experience
- Experience of working with a range of new media and digital projects
- Understanding of publishing technologies
- Experience of successful team-working
- Experience of, and willingness to support, commitment to routines to maintain all company information systems.
