Development Editor - Professional Publishing

We have an interesting editorial opportunity with a leading, global Professional Body based in central London.

This role will provide senior editorial support together with copyright expertise to the publishing team, in addition to commissioning, editing and formatting distance learning materials for printed and online publications, and will contribute to the continuous improvement of the commissioning process.

Working closely with the Publishing Manager, responsibilities will include providing senior editorial support to the Learning Solutions Publishing team by editing technical/complex/multi-author projects and/or provide guidance to less experienced editors working on these projects.  You will also assist with sourcing and contracting suitable authors, reviewers, contributors and other subject matter experts and ensure that commissioning briefs and processes are appropriate for delivery format. Further responsibilities will involve re-writing and restructuring text to fit syllabus requirements and the level of qualification.

The successful person will be able to demonstrate solid experience from a senior editorial capacity, ideally from an academic or professional publishing background, with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the digital publishing process, using XML content management software; an excellent command of the English Language and able to write clearly and concisely with grammatical accuracy.  You will have experience of planning and managing multiple and complex projects, and using XML content management software to edit content for publication in multiple output format.
