Development Editor - Social Sciences

Our client; a global academic publisher, is looking to recruit a Development Editor to work on an expanding list of textbooks and digital resources across core publishing areas in the Social Sciences.

An excellent opportunity for a Development Editor has opened up at a global academic publisher based in London. This role would be well suited to a dynamic individual who will be responsible for developing textbooks and digital resources in the field of Social Sciences.

The key responsibilities of the Development Editor include:

• Being responsible for successfully bringing to market the most important textbooks and digital resources.
• Project management and working in direct contact with authors and commissioning editors.
• Carrying out market research and competitor analysis in relation to specific book projects and suggesting development strategies.
• Development of digital ancillaries and coordination of production of companion websites and website material.
• Management of the review process for new editions, tailor reviews and assume primary responsibility for working with authors.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• A professional understanding of the Social Sciences and good knowledge of the higher education environment.
• Successful experience within a publishing environment.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to manage budgets.
• Strong ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and show initiative.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
