Acquisitions Editor, Illustrated - DK Life

DK has been experiencing significant success in lifestyle genres in recent months, publishing both New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling titles, and experiencing dramatic sales growth across many territories. Consumers and authors are drawn to our refreshed brand and design aesthetic, and the greater variety in our publishing.

To continue our momentum we are hiring an Acquisitions Editor in our Life division, to commission and publish illustrated non-fiction across a broad range of lifestyle topics. If you have experience of developing illustrated books for adults, we would love to hear from you.

The focus of this role will be to expand our global lifestyle publishing, targeting health and wellbeing, crafts and home, and food & drink titles. You will lead and inspire the creation of a variety of titles from complex reference volumes to practical handbooks, quirky gift titles and everything in between.

This is a very exciting opportunity for a talented individual who has the drive and commitment to really make an impact to the success of the division. You will need to:

  • Find new authors and publish original illustrated non-fiction titles;
  • Originate ideas, commission writers, and support in the commissioning of photographers and illustrators of the highest quality to deliver international sales success;
  • Have experience of co-edition publishing and a keen awareness of the global books market; and
  • Acquire non-fiction titles that will contribute to DK’s mission to create immersive books for the curious.

If you are a self-starter, enjoy working with authors across lifestyle subject areas, have a good visual sense and a strong eye for detail, perform well under pressure, and thrive on spotting new trends and ideas, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and cover letter by Monday 11th October.

DK is committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the varied communities that read our books across the world. We encourage applications from all individuals, regardless of age, religion, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality or social background.
