Editor

We have an exciting opportunity for an Editor to join a new independent trade publishing house based in central London. Working on a range of fiction and non-fiction titles, this is a great chance for an experienced Editorial Assistant for Assistant Editor to step up into an Editor position and be a part of a growing team.

 

Key duties:

  • Work with the Publisher to develop new ideas for books and identify suitable authors
  • Manage and prepare publishing proposals, including costings, projected sales and income
  • Ensure all content is produced on time and within budget
  • Liaise with authors and agents to agree terms and issue contracts
  • Advise on decisions surrounding reprinting, revising and producing new editions
  • Work closely with sales, marketing and production

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Proven book publishing editorial experience
  • Ability to multitask effectively and work to deadlines
  • Strong line and structural editing skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills
  • Excellent IT and administration abilities
