Editor

A leading academic and scientific publisher based in central London is looking for an Editor to manage, commission, edit and assess journals articles across medicine and the life sciences. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with a strong biomedical background and solid experience in STM publishing.

 

Key duties:

  • Invite reviewers and assess articles for publication, monitoring peer-review and manuscript progress
  • Coordinate copy-flow liaising with external and internal colleagues to ensure timely publication
  • Support the launch of new journals, commissioning articles and appointing Editorial Board as required
  • Respond to queries from Editors, authors and reviewers and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders
  • Advise on strategic development of titles, keeping scientific knowledge up-to-date

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience commissioning and editing/checking journal articles within STM/Medcomms publishing is required
  • Solid knowledge of journal publishing and of the medical field and the ability to assign papers to appropriate reviewers
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a biomedical field with ideally some research experience
  • Good understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the clinical trial process
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to attend conferences and meetings both nationally and internally
