Editor (children's fiction)

A super new opportunity has arisen for a full time Childrens Fiction Editor to join a highly respected London children’s book publishing house working on their growing children’s fiction list.

This exciting role includes working on all aspects of the editorial process from line editing through to the production stages as well as managing schedules and book illustrations. You’ll be working closely with the Commissioning Editor.

We are looking for talented children’s fiction book candidates with 2-3 years’ editorial experience particularly working in children’s fiction publishing. 

  • fully participating with regular fiction editorial team meetings
  • reading new submissions
  • managing freelancers
  • working with manuscripts from line edited stage to production
  • creating and managing schedules esp for illustrated titles
  • creating illustration briefs 
  • pre-press checks on files & covers
  • uploading & updating bibliographic data
  • writing TI & cover copy
  • project managing illustrated fiction titles with commissioning editor
  • managing and creating cover briefs
  • copy-editing and proofreading
  • online updating typesetting system aep and InDesign

You’ll be based in the publisher’s Central London offices, and a good competitive salary is on offer to the winning candidate, depending of course on the experience you bring to the role.
