Editor - Journals

Are you an editorial professional with experience within scientific publishing?  Are you looking for a role where you can develop your skills and grow your editorial experience?

An established membership body based in the Hertfordshire area (20 minutes from London) is looking to recruit an experienced Editor to work on their Research Journals. This is a broad editorial role and would suit a candidate with some previous editorial experience within a scientific publishing environment.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Publisher for journals, with the development of the Journal portfolio
  • Development responsibility of an assigned number of journals
  • Co-ordinate and organise Editorial Board meetings
  • Support the Publisher with new launches and acquisitions
  • Represent the organisation at scientific conferences when required
  • Work with the wider journals team to ensure editorial workflow is operating at maximum efficiency
  • Ensure that journals are promoted through all relevant strategies
  • Support social media strategies

This is a fantastic editorial role for a candidate with an STM publishing background and proven experience of the publishing process, looking for the next step in an editorial role. You will ideally have some knowledge of peer review systems; well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a strong customer focus. You must be able to work to tight deadlines, strong IT skills and excellent time management skills.  Books or journals experience welcome.
