We have a fantastic opening for a motivated and creative Editorial Product Developer to cover a maternity contract for a minimum of 12 months.
Reporting to the Programme and Portfolio Manager, the Product Developer will be responsible for the editorial development of Higher Education products, both print and online, ensuring each project meets the needs of the target markets and is developed within budget and to schedule.
Key Responsibilities include:
- managing the review process and providing analysis and feedback to authors and contributors
- determining and managing schedules with authors, subject matter experts, contributors and reviewers to ensure timely submissions, delivery of high quality content and maintaining of overall schedules
- checking, editing and providing feedback for traditional textbook content as well as digital material including content for their successful digital platforms
- Making sure content is ready for production and readiness of digital content for publication
- monitoring publication schedules and editorial costs of the projects assigned to the list
- execution and analysis of market research to ensure material produced meets the needs of the target market
This is a fixed term contract position covering maternity, up to 12 months, and will be based in new modern offices in London
The successful person should be able to show excellent communication skills, organizational skills and project management skills, as well as the ability to solve problems using their own initiative and to interact effectively with authors, customers and other departments.
Required experience and skills:
- proven editorial experience with a sound understanding of the editorial and production processes – candidates with experience in other publishing roles will be considered, but editorial experience is a benefit
- preferred experience in educational, academic or Higher Education publishing, however all publishing experience will be considered
- evidence of digital content development would be highly desirable
- experience with marketing, management or accounting -based publications are favourable as the role is likely to work across one or more of these lists
