Educational Content Development Editor (Temporary Contract)
An educational publisher in Gloucestershire is looking to appoint a Content Development Editor working on teaching and learning training products from Primary through to Higher Education for print and also new innovative interactive resources. You will manage and develop a portfolio of projects through the entire publishing process from early drafting stages, through key project and production editing stages to sign off of final proofs for printing. This is a temporary contracts running until September 2014, starting immediately.
Key duties:
- Manage and publish content to the appropriate level of quality, balancing time and cost
- Proactively manage authors and committees of specialists through the drafting and delivery process
- Edit drafts for language, structure, consistency and conformity to house style
- Liaise closely with authors to resolve editorial issues and achieve committee approval
- Plan and prioritise your workload to ensure delivery of content to schedule
- Ensure effective forecasting of content and recommend/carry out actions to ensure delivery
Experience / skills required:
- Strong development editorial experience in professional / information / B2B / STM publishing
- A thorough knowledge of drafting/editing rules with strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and experience of dealing with specialist authors/stakeholders
- Project management experience and good presentation skills – verbal, written and formal
- A proactive and flexible approach
