Publicity Manager (Maternity cover)

12- month maternity position

Faber is a leading independent literary publisher. We publish a diverse range of high-profile authors such as Kazuo Ishiguro, Anna Burns, Sally Rooney, Leïla Slimani, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Orhan Pamuk, Sebastian Barry, Laura Lippman, Lenny Henry, Luke Harding, Melissa Harrison and Amelia Gentleman, and we have a backlist containing the works of T. S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Sylvia Plath and William Golding, among many others.

We are looking to recruit a Publicity Manager on a maternity cover contract from January 2021. The contract is likely to be for a 12-month period. Although the role will be based in central London we are currently working remotely.

The successful candidate will work as part of Faber’s publicity team in creating and executing market-leading media campaigns and events for a wide range of titles on the adult fiction and crime lists, non-fiction, Guardian Faber and arts lists. The ideal candidate will have experience of working on high-profile lead title campaigns and exhibit excellent author and agent care, vision and passion. They will need to write PR strategy, have great media contacts and be an expert in social media. They need to be a team player but be able to work autonomously. They will manage their own budgets.

Reporting to the Communications Director, responsibilities will include planning and driving high-profile publicity campaigns across all media channels, working closely with authors, agents, press contacts and the book trade in addition to colleagues in the editorial, sales and marketing teams at Faber.

The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, strong working knowledge of print and digital media, a passion for books and an ability to prioritise and work well under pressure. Relevant experience of working on publicity campaigns in publishing and/or the arts is essential.
