Freelance Copywriter

Postscript Mail Order (www.psbooks.co.uk) produces monthly retail catalogues containing an eclectic selection of general and scholarly overstocks. Each catalogue requires descriptions for around 200 new titles, currently written by a small team of freelance writers. We require one more writer to take on around 40 titles per month, covering subjects such as crafts, cookery and gardening, local history and popular biography.

The catalogue maintains a very high standard of grammatical and factual accuracy and aims to provide the maximum interest within strict constraints: in general, catalogue entries are 80 words or less. The aim is to provide informed detail about the title’s subject and content, avoiding promotional copy.

Samples are delivered to the writing team and copy is emailed to the editor (based in South Devon). We work to tight schedules and writers are required to adhere to strict deadlines.

We would expect applicants to have familiarized themselves with our catalogue (a copy of the current issue can be ordered from our website). Postscript is a trading name of Sandpiper Books Ltd.
