Freelance XML Editor (Yorkshire)

A freelance Editor is required to work for a prestigious professional information publisher on a range of digital content. You will work on a freelance basis for the publisher and will be based in their offices in Yorkshire.  The contract is to start immediately until 12 December 2015. This role is requires someone to be based onsite, full-time in their offices in Yorkshire.  

Key duties:

• Proofread and copy-edit online content for various projects on leading legal / professional resource websites
• Copy editing, Proof checking, Transferring corrections, Creating covers and contents, Checking indexes and tables etc; Working in XML (training provided) 
• Checking/altering to: house-style, spelling, punctuation, correct keying style, XML tag attributes
• Updating legislation info and projects involving cross-checking documents and databases, following a set of instructions and adding data into a database and editing sgml

Experience / skills required:

• Previous editorial or online publishing experience
• Educated to degree level
• Excellent writing, grammar and general editorial skills
• Good IT skills including MS Office and experience with XML
• A questioning / enquiring mind and problem solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to prioritise/be flexible and organise a varied workload
• Keen to read and refer to training guides, and ask questions
