Senior Marketing Manager (parental leave cover FTC)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the multi-award-winning marketing team within HarperFiction on a parental leave cover contract for up to a year. We are looking for a creative, confident marketer with experience working in a busy and fast-paced consumer marketing team.

As Senior Marketing Manager you will be responsible for planning and implementing integrated and innovative campaigns across a range of the leading names in fiction. The successful candidate will be a senior voice in the Fiction Marketing team, bringing their knowledge of the market and prior experience to produce outstanding campaigns that will deliver consumer cut-through and drive sales across all formats.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering strategic, standout campaigns for key releases and authors across the HarperFiction division

  • Developing creative, targeted, effective marketing activity including all planning, briefing and delivery

  • Striving for innovation across all channels to produce market-leading campaigns that create cut-through and deliver on sales targets

  • Ensuring that all creative, media, and digital plans are delivered on brief and within budget

  • Ensuring all marketing campaigns are implemented to optimum efficiency with demonstrable metrics

  • Measuring and evaluating campaigns, sharing learnings and optimising for future activity

  • Working alongside the consumer insight team to understand readerships and inform target audiences

  • Working with brand and media partners to leverage reader interest and expand our consumer reach

  • Supporting a culture of collaboration and integration, working closely with Publicity, Sales and Editorial to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met

  • Developing strong agency, media and influencer relationships to help maximise all communications opportunities and activity

 Key Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience of delivering strategic, effective marketing campaigns across all channels of the marketing mix

  • Track record in generating outstanding creative work that delivers against objectives

  • Excellent communication and people skills, ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders

  • Experience working in a busy marketing department at a trade publisher and with major author brands is desirable

  • Creativity essential

  • Commercially astute, with a focus on ROI

  • Excellent negotiation and relationship skills

  • Highly organised

  • Active interest in the latest marketing trends and campaigns from across the book industry as well as the wider entertainment and media sector

  • Enjoys reading widely with an active interest in the publishing industry – particular interest in commercial fiction desirable

  • Team-player, looking to share their learnings with the wider marketing team and foster a culture of shared learning
