Head of Publicity (10 month contract)

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Publicist to join an independent trade publisher in Central London. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong publicity background looking to work on a diverse range of fiction and non-fiction. This is a fixed-term maternity cover position to start in December for 10 months.

Key duties:

Create and implement effective publicity campaigns for a wide range of titles across subjects such as current affairs, food, music and popular science.

Manage a Press Officer, offering support where necessary

Work closely with editors and authors based in the US to ensure strong media coverage in the UK and Europe

Build strong relationships with key press contracts

Provide outstanding author care for authors and organise their events, launches and festivals

Work closely with sales and marketing teams to review and report results

Negotiate fees and contracts for extracts

Experience / skills required:

Excellent publicity experience within trade publishing

Strong press contacts and a good understanding of how to pitch to the relevant contacts

Experience of working on a diverse list of niche and mass market titles

Experience in overseeing/mentoring junior members of staff

Availability for some out of office hours work to attend author events
