International Marketing Director

Our client, a global provider of education tools and discovery services to libraries, requires an International Marketing Director to manage the global team outside of the USA. You will be responsible for creating and leading an international marketing resource which drives revenue and EBITDA-Capex growth for the company through the development and implementation of agreed strategic marketing goals for the EMEA, Latin America, Asia and Australia/Oceania regions in close liaison with the global senior executive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic annual marketing plan for the International business, complete with outlined objectives, strategy and tactics
  • Liaise closely with senior executives in the US to ensure that International marketing strategy is in line with US/global business strategy
  • Identify International marketing costs
  • Prepare a detailed marketing financial plan which clearly shows regional spend
  • Prepare and manage an international marketing financial
  • Achieve revenue, profit and cash targets within the regions, from both indigenous and import sales
  • Identify and specify the current international marketing staffing resource and the roles/key outcomes by region
  • Prepare a proposal for the effective utilisation of staff across international with the aim of meeting current and future marketing/business plans over the next 3 years
  • Ensure that the company has the right infrastructure in place and a marketing staffing resource which has the capability of achieving ambitious growth plans
  • Lead and build high performance teams through clear goal setting, monitoring and evaluation
  • Supervise and lead strategy development for new product launches
  • Sustain/grow the brand in a highly competitive marketplace
  • Analyse industry/competitive trends to generate ideas for the future with a particular focus on HE
  • Identify new potential territories
  • Understand regional markets and Identify key needs
  • Balance market needs against a consistent brand image, production capabilities and cost constraints

Skills & Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (MBA preferred but not essential)
  • At least 2 years’ International experience and familiarity with Asia, Middle East and European markets in Higher Education digital/STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths)
  • 5 years’ experience in the digital educational industry
  • Strong general management experience across cultures with a strong cultural sensitivity and a track record of building relationships across international markets and in a matrix organisation
  • Commercial orientation, financial acumen with an excellent record of successful P&L management and driving growth
  • At least 2 years’ experience of successfully managing teams of at least 5 people and demonstration of actively driven development of team members to maximise personal and team success
  • Experience in all facets of marketing and brand management (segmentation, positioning, market research and consumer insight development, new product development, pricing, sales forecasting, promotions, advertising and digital marketing)
  • Proven decision-making and leadership skills
  • Confident at presenting to audiences at all levels, both internal and external
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
