Journal Development Managers x 2

A leading STM publisher based in central London is looking for 2 Journal Development Managers to lead 2 teams of Journal Development Editors and oversee the development of life and health sciences journals. Please note that one position is permanent and the other one is a maternity cover contract.

 

Key duties:

  • Optimise publishing service and commercial opportunities to increase market share of submissions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members
  • Line-manage a team of Journal Development Editors, providing training and setting plans
  • Improve journal development processes where possible and translate company strategy into journal development actions
  • Resolve queries from Editors in a timely manner and represent company at industry events, keeping updated with market trends
  • Work with the Acquisition Editors to research and identify gaps in the portfolio

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience working in an editorial/publishing role within STM online publishing is essential
  • Experience working with editors, authors and reviewers is required
  • Line-management would be an advantage
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to problem solve and adapt to changes
  • Outstanding communication and relationship building skills
  • A proactive, flexible and cooperative approach to work
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Educated to degree level in a life/health sciences subject or equivalent
