Journal Publishing Manager

We have an exciting position to work in Oxford on the editorial and financial development of a list of Global Research and Health Sciences journals for a leading STM publisher.

 

Key duties:

  • Take responsibility for the financial performance of a list of journals
  • Research and implement ideas to develop content and revenue and meet agreed targets
  • Propose and agree financial forecasts, including pricing
  • Monitor contracts taking responsibility for successful negotiation and renewal
  • Maintain a broad overview of developments in journals publishing, particularly electronic publishing
  • Attend conferences and editorial board and society meetings and present formal publisher reports
  • Oversee the delivery of bespoke web publishing projects

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Prior experience within journal publishing is essential
  • You will have a good understanding of journal publishing processes and issues
  • Experience of working and building strong relationships with academics is required
  • You must have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (including Word and Excel)
  • This role requires occasional travel
