Journals Deputy Editor

We are excited to be working on a lovely new role with a scientific membership body in London, who are seeking a Journals Deputy Editor to work on a portfolio of science journals. They publish high quality journals aimed at the veterinarian community, but this role will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of their educational publications.

This role offers a hybrid working model, with 2 days a week in their office in Central London.

Reporting directly into the Editor in Chief, and managing 1 direct report, this role will be responsible for:

• Leading the management of a flagship educational journal, as well as contributing to other publications and helping with the strategic development for the portfolio
• Organising editorial board meetings
• Commissioning engaging and relevant content for the journals, listening to recommendations for the editorial boards
• Managing the online article submission system
• Working closely with the other publishers to ensure content is delivered on time and to the highest possible standards of quality and user experience
• Attending relevant conferences and events

We are looking for a journals development professional, with a successful track record in Academic / STM publishing and good knowledge of commissioning content for a specialised readership.
