Journals Development Editor
A leading academic publisher in Oxfordshire has an exciting opportunity to join their successful Journals list as a Development Editor.
Key duties:
- Delivery of development support on specific journal titles, working closely with the relevant subject teams
- Liaison with the Research and Business Intelligence Department to analyse and present appropriate data to support journal development initiatives
- Maintaining and updating the team’s bank of best practice guidelines and templates
- Setting up a programme of topic based editorial development workshops/master classes for colleagues
- Evaluating market and industry innovations and initiatives, making recommendations for active engagement
- Presenting on any aspect of journal development and team activities, internally and externally
- Working with editorial colleagues to advise and assist external partners in development of their publications
- Attending and presenting at editorial board meetings
- Providing support to colleagues in global offices, including running webinars, video meetings and telephone training
Experience / skills required:
- Previous journals publishing experience is required
- Experience in academic journal development and good knowledge of publishing processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Confidence to liaise effectively at all levels with colleagues and stakeholders externally
- Industry and market awareness
- A flexible approach to work, good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative on projects
- Have great attention to detail and knowledge of MS Office
