Junior Business Development Co-ordinator - Books

Are you the kind of person who enjoys meeting people and is considered a `people person`? Are you looking to get into publishing within a sales/marketing career? One of the leading and best known independent business publishers in Europe who lead the field in business publishing is looking to recruit a talented and resourceful individual to help grow their sales of print and electronic products in the higher education market.

In the new publishing climate the best commissioning editors take a pro-active approach to targeting the books they want in their list, and network around the target community to identify the best authors and persuade them to sign. This is the same skills set as a sales/business development role. This role will also give you an unparalleled exposure to customers; how they think,  what they need and how they make decisions.

Responsibilities will involve:

  • Identifying lecturers whose teaching interests match the publisher`s products through internet and phone research.
  • Researching lecturers` courses, teaching challenges and resource needs so that you can suggest the best solution from the publisher`s product range.
  • Feed back to editorial and marketing colleagues on market trends, lecturer needs and new product development opportunities.
  • Manage a pipeline of business opportunities

This is an opportunity to turbo-charge a publishing career, which includes a skills and coaching programme, and will give you access to senior decision makers in universities.  The successful person will be of graduate calibre or equivalent,  will be able to demonstrate a competitive spirit and positive attitude in whatever you choose to apply yourself to, and will ideally have some office skills, maybe from an internship in a Rights or Sales/Marketing department. You will be good at spotting opportunities and prioritising your time to get the best overall result. You will be business savvy with an entrepreneurial spirit, passionate about what you do and hungry to learn new skills. Within this role you will be provided with mentoring, training and coaching.

For further details of this brilliant foothold into a long-term publishing career, please forward your CV with a short covering letter outlining your interest and salary expectations.
