Key Tasks
Key Accounting
Manage accounts for all major digital and internet retailers, including but not limited to Amazon, Kindle, The Book Depository, Kobo, Google, Nook and Apple.
Maximise turnover and profit for UK digital and internet retail accounts.
Demonstrate a full understanding of internet retailing, including promotional mechanics, pricing structures, sales patterns and commercial opportunities.
To use analysis provide by Digital Sales Assistant to inform sales strategy. To steer Digital Sales Assistant towards useful analysis of data available.
Submit titles for promotion and to secure merchandising positions and marketing activity across digital and internet retailers.
Liaise with PR, Marketing and Sales departments on all cross-promotional and sales opportunities, with special emphasis on working with Marketing’s online strategy to build Walker’s key titles and authors.
Work with the UK sales team where print retailers have a digital partner (ebooks by Sainsbury’s, Kobo) and to maximise sales opportunities for key titles in ebook.
To manage accounts for all library ebook platforms – to understand this market and maximise opportunities for Walker Books in this area.
Responsible for the reporting and compliance for all metadata across ebooks and physical books for online retailers.
Responsible for managing the UK Digital Sales Assistant.
Sales Development
To understand changes in hardware and software on digital reading devices, and developments on retailer platforms and to innovate accordingly.
To lead digital meeting group raising key initiatives and trends.
To create digital and online sales plans for key titles and brands, working closely with Editorial, Marketing and Publicity.
To find, research and assess new platforms for Walker’s ebooks. Build business cases to management with recommendations where appropriate, and instigate new customer relationships.
Suggest price changes to senior management so as to optimise revenue.
Key Performance Indicators
Meeting budget for Key Accounts.
Contribution to achieving UK digital strategies
Communication, planning and execution of digital facing plans
Manage relationships internally and externally with digital providers to maximise the commercial opportunity
Knowledge and practical application of new digital opportunities
Growth in digital sales of new authors and brands
Analysis and commercial application of data findings reported by the UK Digital Sales Assistant.
