The Little Tiger picture books studio has an opening for a Commissioning Editor or Senior Commissioning Editor on a 12-month short-term contract.
Little Tiger publishes an incredible range of picture books that straddle trade and commercial markets around the globe. We represent award-winning, bestselling authors and illustrators, and have a stunning track record of developing new voices.
We’re looking for a candidate, with at least 4 years’ experience of editing picture books, to:
- commission, nurture and edit established and new authors to achieve their best work
- brainstorm new ideas and formats with other members of the studio
- pitch and present new texts to our sales team, alongside market research
- foster great relationships with literary and illustrator agents
- use professional knowledge – working closely with designers – to create books in a style appropriate to the market
- liaise with production and design to project-manage titles, maintaining exceptional quality within agreed deadlines
- mentor more junior members of the editorial team.
