Senior Editor / Managing Editor – Maternity Cover (Children’s Books) Little Tiger Press – 10-month FTC
Little Tiger Press is a dynamic publisher of – among other formats – innovative, commercial board books. We have an exciting opportunity for an efficient and creative Senior Editor or Managing Editor to join our friendly and passionate team on a 10-month maternity cover contract.
We’re looking for a candidate with at least 4 years’ experience in children’s books, to work with us on board products that span early non-fiction, novelty, humorous and sentimental topics.
You will:
- brainstorm new ideas and formats with other members of the studio
- manage existing successful board series, including contributing new ideas, conducting market research and writing where required
- pitch and present concepts to our sales team
- foster great relationships with illustrator agents
- use professional knowledge – working closely with designers – to create books in a style appropriate to the market
- liaise with production and design to project-manage titles, maintaining exceptional quality within agreed deadlines
- line-manage and mentor an Editorial Assistant.
This exciting role requires:
- creativity, and a passion for presenting commercial topics in new and innovative ways
- flexibility and the ability to problem-solve and multi-task
- excellent skills in communication, organisation, time- and project-management
- meticulous attention to detail
- relevant market, consumer and trend awareness
- proficiency in editing packages and operational systems
- experience working on novelty books in particular is desired, but not a requirement.
