Managing Editor, Academic Publisher, Oxford

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Managing Editor to take up a newly created role developing and managing scholarly journals at a leading academic publisher based in Oxford.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

    • Overseeing the performance and development of their list of open access journals.
    • Working closely with external academic editors and supporting all commissioning and acquisitions activities.
    • Be a representative at board meetings, international conferences and relevant industry events.
    • Building an international network of contacts
    • Supervising members of the publishing team and helping manage departmental administration.

The successful candidate will be adaptable and able to think innovatively about publishing. You will demonstrate commercial astuteness, have an ability to build strong working relationships and be confident working with a diverse range of academics. You will have direct experience of journals publishing in a list management role and previous experience managing open access journals would be advantageous.

This is a great role for someone looking to take their next step in their editorial career with great potential for personal development and the opportunity for frequent international travel.
