Managing Editor (Non-fiction)

Our client, a fast-growing trade publisher based in Gloucestershire, is looking for enthusiastic Managing Editors to work on their History and non-fiction lists.

 

Key duties:

  • Oversee the timely publication and quality of a portfolio of titles through the publication process
  • Scheduling the work of junior editors
  • Oversee and assist the work of junior production editors
  • Work with suppliers, including outsourced typesetters and designers
  • Provide training for more junior members of the team

 

Experience / skills required:

  • You will have prior experience of working in editorial capacity in book publishing
  • Prior experience of managing a list of titles is highly desired
  • You will have experience of working with freelancers and outsourced suppliers
  • It is essential that you are organised, efficient, and comfortable with a fast-paced workload
  • Experience of commissioning for series books, ideally in history and heritage, is preferred
