Publishing across all subject areas, the role would suit a person who is adaptable and confident working with a diverse range of academics.
The Managing Editor will have an interest in open access and a track-record of successfully managing and developing scholarly journals.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing editorial and financial performance and development of a list of Open Access journals
- Recruiting and working with external academic editors
- Building and maintaining a strong network of contacts
- Representing the Open Access division at board meetings, international conferences and relevant industry events
- Supervising members of the publishing team
- Working collaboratively with internal colleagues
- Helping to manage departmental administration
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge and experience of the academic journals and open access market
- Sound commercial awareness
- Relationship management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Great time management and organisational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
This role would suit an editorial professional with 2-3 years’ experience working in a journals environment and is looking for more responsibility and a greater day to day challenge. You will be a keen, dynamic self-starter who is strategic and commercially minded.
