The Managing Editor Opportunity:

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Open Access Initiative. We are looking to fill a key position that will involve relationship management and Journal Publishing Manager responsibilities.  A key priority for the role will involve the creation, development, and project management of strategic development plans for designated Open Access journals.

The Managing Editor Role:

 

The successful candidate will act as Managing Editor and relationship manager for two society Open Access journals (Pharmacology, Research and Perspectives, and Physiological Reports), and two proprietary titles (Brain and Behaviour, and Food Science and Nutrition). The successful candidate will also have Journal Publishing Manager responsibility for Food Science and Nutrition, and Pharmacology, Research and Perspectives, but the overall responsibility of the role is to act as Managing Editor.

 

A further key element of this role will be to participate in the launch of new Open Access journals across Research Communications by attending and contributing at the meetings of these new launches.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable candidate who can work independently within a global team, and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholder groups across the business.

 

Managing Editor Selection Criteria:

 

> Proven ability to prioritize workload on multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently

> Experience of crafting and executing strategic journal development plans

> Knowledge and awareness of Open Access issues

> Experienced in dealing with societies

> Educated to Degree level or equivalent

> Strong communication skills required for interaction with a wide variety of stakeholders; including the ability to communicate effectively with senior academics and senior management across Research Communications

> Comfortable participating in a global team
