News Editor

The Bookseller is recruiting a News Editor to oversee the publication’s extensive news coverage online (including email, web and social media) and in print, and to manage its news team.

The prospective candidate should already be working as a news editor, deputy news editor, or senior reporter, on a business to business magazine, daily or weekly newspaper or news website. They should be able to demonstrate a strong ability to break news and secure exclusive stories, as well as editing news stories written by others. Applications will also be considered from exceptional candidates with less journalism experience but a strong record within the book industry.

The Bookseller has been the business magazine of the book industry since 1858. Its news output - whether it is delivered in print, online, via social media or on email - is widely respected for its relevancy, accuracy and timeliness.

Managing a small news team, the news editor’s role is pivotal to the performance and reputation of The Bookseller, and is therefore one of the most demanding jobs on the publication. The candidate will oversee the publication of The Bookseller’s morning news email, news coverage online throughout the day, and news material for the weekly magazine. They will also news edit The Bookseller’s Book Fair Dailies, including the three editions published at both the Frankfurt Book Fair, and the London Book Fair.

The news editor reports to The Bookseller’s deputy editor, Benedicte Page. Salary is competitive.

Applications should be submitted by Friday 7th September, to Benedicte.Page@thebookseller.com
