Online Bookshop Manager

 

BM TRADA – part of the Exova Group - provides independent certification, testing, inspection, training and information services to the building, fire and furniture industries.  We are recruiting this Online Bookshop Manager to be based at our High Wycombe site.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a well-organised and capable self-starter to handle the day-to-day operations of our online bookshop and to develop growth opportunities for our multi-format technical information products. Based in the publishing team, you will be responsible for ensuring high standards of product information, customer service and order fulfilment. This role includes building the profile of the shop, highlighting digital and print products, and specifying and/or implementing improvements to the online buying experience. In addition you will co-ordinate with colleagues in the Exova Group to package technical information with services, training and events. Main responsibilities include:

 

  • Ensure the smooth and profitable running of the online bookshop, delivering excellent customer service
  • Working with the Publishing Manager, develop and implement growth plans for the bookshop  
  • Create advance product information, maintain content and prepare a regular publications e-news
  • Devise attractive special offers for online customers and events
  • Proactively build internal and external partnerships, aligning publications with related products
  • Identify forthcoming relevant publications from third party publishers and negotiate supply terms
  • Act as expert user of our publications and ecommerce systems, identifying process improvements
  • Represent the bookshop at training sessions and other events
  • Monitor and report regularly on bookshop performance, using this intelligence to identify future opportunities for information products
  • Upload adverts to website as required, providing information and leads to our media agency
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of communications with bookshop customers

 

Skills and experience

  • Preferably a graduate/equivalent but it could also suit someone with relevant vocational qualifications
  • Commercially aware with experience of online retail and technical products/services
  • Some experience of the publishing industry or construction/technical products preferred
  • Some familiarity with ecommerce,  content management systems and/or html helpful
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proactive, highly organised and confident with customers, particularly on the phone/at events
  • Excellent English language and communication skills
  • Microsoft Office – Word/Excel, familiarity with databases

  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial and able to work independently, but comfortable in a team environment
  • Strong organisational and confident communications skills essential
  • Customer-focused approach - both internal and external
  • Dependable, reliable and able to produce a consistently high quality/quantity of work
