Peer Review Manager

We have a new role with a wonderful charity publisher of scientific journals, who are looking to appoint a Peer Review Manager to manage a small team and oversee the peer review process for two established publications.

The role will be based in their London office, with partial homeworking available

The Peer Review Manager will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the peer review process runs smoothly, checking for ethics issues and suggesting changes to optimise the process in line with industry best practice
  • Managing a small team, and acting as direct line manager for 2 Peer Review Coordinators
  • Managing the submission system providers, monitoring and evaluating their performance and maintaining a mutually beneficial professional relationship
  • Working closely with Senior Editors, Publishers and Editor-in-Chief, overseeing the smooth transition of manuscripts through to production and publication

We are looking for someone with a strong administrative background in a journal publishing environment, preferably related to Life Sciences, and who will prove to be familiar with peer review processes and best practice. You should be confident managing you own workload and assigning tasks to direct reports, while supporting their growth and career development.
