Peer Review Supervisor - Maternity Cover

An interesting and responsible opening has arisen for an ambitious and highly motivated publishing professional to remotely supervise a friendly and successful team of seven externally-based peer review administrators for this leading, global and highly successful publisher of academic and professional books, journals and online products.

Based in the Oxford area, this role is a maternity cover contract and is situated in the Electronic Editorial Systems department, which is a division of journals production, primarily responsible for online manuscript submission across a range of peer reviewed academic journals.

The Peer Review Supervisor will work closely with the Peer Review Manager to support and manage seven remote-working and freelance Editorial Office Administrators handling peer review processes across a range of titles. This role acts as the key point of contact between the oxford office and the team based in their Delhi office, overseeing their workload and offering support.

Key responsibilities will involve; routine operation of ScholarOne Manuscripts and editorial manage online systems; evaluating new functionality and peer review softwares and maintaining and updating online peer review systems.  You will give effective support to editors, referees and authors using the system and supervise and co-operate with remote-working journal administrators to ensure they utilise all available resources and have a co-ordinated approach to peer review. You will project manage the supply of in-house peer review to various journals to cope with changing demand.

This is an interesting and responsible role and the successful candidate will be of graduate calibre with a minimum of 2 years experience within the publishing industry, ideally with experience of online submission systems (ScholarOne Manuscripts or Editorial Manager).  You will ideally have experience with an originality checking software and able to demonstrate an awareness of the concepts of plagiarism and academic misconduct within journals publishing.  You will be able to work under pressure, adapting to varying work loads, possess a flexible approach, show initiative and have the confidence to work autonomously.
