Press Officer, Cornerstone

We have an exciting opportunity for a Press Officer to join our award-winning team and work on publicity campaigns across the Cornerstone list. This newly created role will involve working on campaigns for both established authors and new fiction launches, as well as our soon-to-be announced non-fiction imprint encompassing smart-thinking, politics, economics, psychology, health, lifestyle and more. The position is ideal for an enthusiastic self-starter who has previous experience working within book publicity and loves a wide range of genres.

Cornerstone is made up of Century, Hutchinson Heinemann, #Merky Books, Del Rey and a new – yet to be announced – imprint. We publish a fantastic range of both fiction and non-fiction titles across commercial and literary lists, and our new imprint will be a home for bold books that expand our thinking and improve the way we live, both individually and as a society. Our authors include Malorie Blackman, Will Smith, Lauren Groff, Dolly Parton, Ramla Ali, Lisa Jewell, Robert Harris, Holly Willoughby, Grace Beverley and more – so no one day is the same as the next!

In this role, you will be responsible for running innovative campaigns with the support of a wider, collaborative publicity team. You’ll work closely with our marketing, sales, rights and editorial colleagues and secure coverage across print, broadcast and online outlets to drive sales for our books. You will plan and schedule events, showcases and festival appearances, working alongside other team members on our high-profile campaigns. You will also be involved in giving feedback on editorial submissions, helping to decide what we publish in the future.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills to develop key media contacts and build relationships with authors and agents. It is a fun and busy role – we need someone who has strong organisation and time management skills, can work both independently and in a team and will remain calm under pressure.

If you have a solid grounding in publicity and would like to work across all kinds of books, this could be the role for you. Please apply with a CV and covering letter by Wednesday 6th October 2021.
