Product Manager

We are seeking a dynamic, creative and committed individual to take a key role in the Academic Marketing team, which sits within the marketing department.

Palgrave Macmillan Higher Education is an imprint of Macmillan Higher Education, publishing for EMEA and other markets around the world in the social sciences, humanities, study skills and other areas. As part of Macmillan Higher Education, we are part of a group with a uniquely devolved and supportive culture.

You will be responsible for creating strategic plans to drive awareness and sales for your lists, and for carrying out the campaigns. This is a role that calls for a dynamic approach and will suit an individual who enjoys a high volume and diverse workload across a range of subject areas, with plenty of opportunity for contribution and creativity.

Our ideal candidate will strike a balance between creativity and strategic planning, coupled with the drive, organisational and people skills to get things done.

This role will evolve since you will want to make an active contribution to the marketing strategy, but your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning a marketing programme targeting academics, booksellers and librarians appropriately using knowledge of the market and how subjects are taught
  • Implementing and analysing campaigns across the marketing mix, including email, social media, and web; trade; events; sales support.
  • You will be able to work collaboratively with a web editor in the Academic Marketing Team.
  • Support and enhance the brand and the discoverability of our brand
  • Managing relationships with editorial and sales colleagues, and with authors

You will have demonstrable experience in a publishing environment, with an understanding of what marketing techniques are successful and how to work within budget. You will have excellent communication skills and be a strong copywriter. Proven digital marketing skills will be advantageous.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a next step up in their marketing career, with the chance to contribute directly to marketing strategies and to the success of your lists.

This role is based in the brand new Macmillan Science & Education offices in the vibrantly renovated King’s Cross area in London. Applicants must have an existing right to live and work in the United Kingdom. The level of appointment will be commensurate with experience.
