Product Manager, Scholarly Publishing, Oxford

Our client is a not-for profit scholarly organisation that wants to improve the future of research communication. They organise metadata and promote the development and use of new and innovative technologies in order to develop tools and services to enable advancements in scholarly publishing.

 

We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Product Manager to join their growing team in the Oxford office. From conception to launch of new products and service enhancements, the successful candidate will possess a unique blend of technically-savvy, big-picture vision as well as the creative drive to make that vision a reality. This role is strategic as well as tactical, ensuring that product plans fit with the overall mission to make sure scholarly research reaches the world.

Key Responsibilities

·         Manage all aspects of the product life cycle for one or more key products through product requirements, prioritised features, product implementation, strategic positioning

·         Integrate usability studies, user research, system analysis and community feedback into product requirements

·         Define objectives, methods and metrics for product adoption to track project success

·         Co-ordinate and direct working groups and committees comprising a broad range of stakeholder groups

·         Contribute to marketing strategy and organize product rollouts

·         Promote product adoption externally as well as liaise with and maintain relations with key market stakeholders & strategic partners

 

Requirements

·         Educated to degree level or equivalent

·         Proven product management experience with internet technologies

·         Strong experience with use of analytics, user research and business cases to drive decisions and improve products

·         Proven track record of successful project completion with a team delivering web-based applications using agile methodologies

·         Competent in giving product demonstrations, presentation talks/webinars

·         Exceptional communication and writing skills to explain technology and technical systems to non-technical audiences

·         Self-driven and enjoys working with a small, geographically dispersed team across multiple time zones
