Production Controller

Are you a Production Assistant looking for the next step up? A well-known trade publisher based in central London is looking for a Production Controller to join their friendly production team. You will be working on non-fiction colour titles, co-editions and reprints, for both print and digital editions.

Key duties:

• Ensure that books are produced on time and to budget and meet required quality standards
• Prepare files for press, for both print and digital editions
• Accurately estimate project costing and manage schedules and print buying
• Negotiate print prices, including colour repro to ensure books are produced to budget
• Communicate clearly and effectively with Editorial, Design, Rights and Sales teams
• Liaise regularly with external suppliers in the UK and overseas
• Work closely with co-editions partners

Experience / skills required:

• Experience in a production role on a colour trade list is essential
• Strong negotiation skills with a proven record in print purchasing
• Excellent understanding of the book production process, from delivery of manuscript to print buying
• Proven knowledge of colour reproduction is required
• Highly organised with a keen eye for detail and good time-management skills
• Knowledge of Word is essential and Adobe CS, basic XML-first workflows and Biblio are a bonus
• A flexible attitude and thorough approach to work
