Production Controller (illustrated)

A leading children’s books publisher is looking for a Production Controller to join their friendly and busy production team. It is an excellent opportunity for a Production Assistant/Production Controller with some solid 4-colour experience.

Key duties:

• Manage schedules for 4-colour titles and prepare files for print
• Ensure that books are produced on time and meet required quality standards
• Monitor and manage accurate costs for new projects
• Negotiate prices to budget and required quality standards
• Work closely with suppliers in the Far East and the UK to ensure timely delivery and excellent quality
• Liaise effectively with all stakeholders to communicate project updates

Experience / skills required:

• Experience in a 4-colour Production role within book publishing is required
• Demonstrable experience of time management/planning within the publishing industry
• Knowledge of safety testing legislation is desirable but not necessary
• Adept at negotiation of costs and schedules with suppliers
• Excellent organisation and communication skills, with a flexible and resourceful attitude
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to build close working relationships
• Knowledge of Word and Excel
• Proactive and can-do attitude with a real passion for children’s books.
