Production Editor

Manchester University Press is a leading academic publishing house, producing around 160 outstanding new books and 14 journals each year in the humanities, history and the social sciences.

This position in our busy production department involves day-to-day responsibility for a number of new books, reprints and journals. Duties include liaising with in-house departments and authors, and coordinating the work of editorial freelancers, typesetters, printers and eBook suppliers, to deliver titles within budget and on schedule.

As well as proficiency in standard office software such as Word and Excel, you need to have excellent organisational and communication skills. You should also have a keen eye for detail and an ability to work to tight deadlines. Experience of book or journal production is desired as is some direct experience in academic publishing or a recognised publishing qualification.
