Production Editor (Journals)

A prestigious academic publisher based in central London is looking for a Production Editor to work on their journals. You will have the overall responsibility for the production of a number of journals, starting with obtaining the copy from the Journal Editor and taking through to final print and online files.

Key duties:

  • Oversee and manage the publication schedule for assigned journals
  • Manage multiple projects on a fixed schedule to a high standard
  • Monitor work from freelance contributors
  • Assist with choice of suppliers and manage invoicing for open access
  • Provide support to editors, board members and other stuff as needed
  • Communicate effectively with other departments

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience in a production role in academic books or journals publishing
  • Copyediting and proofreading experience, with a good eye for detail
  • Demonstrable ability to multitask and work on schedule
  • Excellent skills in managing internal and external relations including liaising with freelancers, academics and authors
  • Solid IT skills, especially on Excel and Words
