Publicity Director, Vintage

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and creative Publicity Director to join the Vintage publicity team, part of the Penguin Random House Group, the world’s largest book publisher.

 

Working on a part-time basis as a job share, three consecutive days per week, the role will be responsible for managing a small team and promoting an eclectic range of fiction and non-fiction titles, from across three of Vintage’s critically acclaimed imprints:

 

Chatto & Windus continues its long tradition of publishing literary fiction and contemporary writers in translation, as well as literary biography and memoir, narrative history, science, art, food and poetry. Its authors include Toni Morrison, Edmund de Waal, Nigella Lawson, Neel Mukherjee, Anne Tyler and Emma Cline.

 

Hogarth, a transatlantic literary imprint in partnership with Penguin Random House US, publishing a growing list of international literary fiction titles and is the lead publisher of the Hogarth Shakespeare series: an ambitious, global project which sees major contemporary novelists, such as Margaret Atwood and Gillian Flynn, retelling Shakespeare’s plays.

 

Square Peg is an eclectic and commercial non-fiction list encompassing narrative non-fiction, humour, graphic fiction, reference, and with an exciting cookery list. Its authors include Violet Bakery, Allie Brosh, Farida Khalaf, Georgina Hayden

 

With proven experience of working at a senior publicity level you will have superb leadership qualities, strong media contacts, excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will be a proven project manager who is able to work autonomously using initiative and also motivate others.

 

You will have demonstrated your ability to obtain high profile media coverage, to strategically target publicity towards an identified readership and to build and manage author brands. PR experience within publishing is essential for this role.
