Macmillan Children’s Books is a division of Pan Macmillan and is one of the UK’s leading children’s publishers, creating great stories for all ages for over 150 years.

 

Our vibrant and proactive children’s books Communications department is looking for an experienced and creative Publicity Manager to work on key 0-6 and 6+ titles, working closely with our authors and illustrators to build the best relationships and profile. Reporting to the Macmillan Children’s Books Communications Director, the role sits within our integrated Communications team and is a key role in our organization. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious individual. 

 

The successful candidate will have the fantastic opportunity of working with some of today’s bestselling and award-winning authors and illustrators, including: Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, Nick Sharratt, Lydia Monks, Roddy Doyle, Eva Ibbotson, Judy Blume, Josephine Angelini, and Frank Cottrell Boyce.

 

We are looking for a first class publicist, someone with a proven track record in managing all aspects of successful PR campaigns, and who has excellent contacts, experience of title budgeting and exceptional interpersonal skills. You will be creative and strategic with an impressive portfolio showcasing previous campaigns, as well as having excellent organizational and project management skills. You need to be flexible and able to work under pressure. Commitment to a high level of author and illustrator care is essential.  You will be responsible for creating and implementing the consumer campaigns for a full range of titles on the Macmillan Children’s Books list.    

 

Key elements of the role also include:

•          Using all means possible to promote Macmillan Children’s Books new titles and brands via both traditional and online media, and to constantly strive to find new routes to the consumer

•          Running frontlist campaigns for all relevant titles ensuring the best return on investment at all times.

•          Keeping up to date with the changing market and consumer attitudes both on and off line.

•          Working alongside the marketing team to plan and deliver the best content for a number of brand websites and social media platforms

•          Maintaining relationships with Macmillan in the USA on shared publication

 

The ideal candidate will need experience running publicity campaigns, not necessarily within a publishing house. Creative flair, an interest in popular culture, the ability to write outstanding copy and an infectious passion for children’s books is all essential.

 

This role is based in our London office in Kings Cross.
