Publisher, Cancer Charity, Buckinghamshire

A highly dynamic cancer charity based in Buckinghamshire is now seeking an experienced Publisher to lead their medical writing team and to develop a revenue generating publishing programme to run alongside their existing print booklets and online information.

The Publisher will play a crucial role in the charity’s drive to diversify its income streams, using a combination of entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen to develop a brand new publishing programme from scratch with a focus on developing products for a health professional audience. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the commissioning and project management of new and existing titles as part of the publishing plan
  • Take responsibility for the management and quality assurance of all publications
  • Recruit, line manage, lead, motivate and develop a team of medical writing staff
  • Devise and implement a publishing and patient information strategy for the organisation
  • Liaise and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders as well as in-house staff regarding all publication matters

The successful candidate will have a strong background in product development and offline and online publishing, ideally within a health or medical-related environment. Experience in a management role within a publishing or communications environment is essential as well as a proven track record of achievement in meeting income generating targets.
