Are you ready to take responsibility for a high profile portfolio of Life Sciences journals? Our client is a renowned, global, academic publisher based in Oxford and they are looking to appoint a Publisher/Executive Journals Editor to take responsibility for their Organism Biology portfolio including some high profile society-owned titles. The successful candidate will focus on developing and maintaining a profitable list, lead the renewal teams on contact renewals, acquire new titles and lead and develop market relationships with societies, editors, partners, and customers.

 

The Publisher will act as a key influencer in strategic planning, and will be involved in developing and updating the strategic plans for journals and acquisition strategy, from the analysis of market information to the submission of business proposals.  This position will involve looking for opportunities from the profitability of the journals, to working with society clients in terms of online learning and open access journals. Responsibilities will also include ensuring commercial viability of content programme, acquisition, project management and product development.

 

Experience required includes:

•             Experience in journals publishing with strong industry knowledge

•             Experience of holding commercial responsibility

•             Proven managerial experience in terms of developing, reviewing and regularly communicating strategic publishing plans to the team as well as direct management of a small team

 

This position could be attractive to a candidate already working at Publisher level, or indeed, at Journals Manager/Publishing Manager level.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly successful academic publisher in a challenging, all encompassing Publisher position.
