Publishing Production Manager - Digital Collections

An award winning digital academic publisher is set for further growth and is seeking a Publishing Manager to join their production department. Our client collaborates with leading libraries and academics in the fields of social sciences and humanities to produce powerful research and dynamic teaching collections.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced production editor to take the next step in their career by joining a cutting edge publisher and managing a small team within an extremely positive environment.

Working with the Editorial Director, your purpose is to oversee the production of all titles within your team in a particular year, on time, on budget and on specification. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Team management of production editors and assistant editors.
  • Contributing to the formulation of the annual editorial plan.
  • Managing a portfolio of suppliers and contractors for editorial production.
  • Working with the editorial director to manage the resourcing of projects.
  • Assisting with the development and training of editorial staff.
  • Assisting in the development and promotion of editorial best practice
  • Maintaining close relationships with senior commissioning management.
  • Contributing to the research and development of new digital resources.
  • Representing the company in a positive manner to members of the scholarly community.

To be considered for this role you will need editorial production and line management experience gained within an academic publishing environment. You will also need an interest in and connection to the social sciences or humanities either through your education or work experience. Experience of supplier negotiation, budget handling and sound decision making skills are also required. Experience of digital products and training staff would be desirable.
