Publishing Manager, STM Journals

We have a fantastic opportunity with a prestigious global Academic press looking for a talented Journal Publishing Manager to develop a list of STM journals in China. Based in Beijing, this role will be pivotal to the acquisition and launch of scientific research journals, and will be responsible for growing a network of relationships with Chinese research facilities and institutions.

This is an exciting new role for the Press, and they are looking for a dynamic and pro-active candidate to develop the presence in this new territory, fully engage with the research publishing community in China and grow the reputation and impact of the company's STM journals portfolio.

The Publishing Manager will be responsible for:

  • Driving the growth of scientific journal content and reputation in China, and increase Chinese editorial representation by sourcing and suggesting potential editors, board members and referees
  • Monitoring publishing and research trends and developments in China, including competitor analysis, and contributing to the Press Open Access strategy, development and execution
  • Identifying and developing new partnership opportunities, and engaging with appropriate research committees and other external bodies
  • Managing a portfolio of STM journals and monitoring their growth and profitability to the agreed targets

The successful candidate will have significant experience in journal publishing, ideally in an international context, and a good knowledge of the global research publishing market. This role will involve liaising with both Chinese and UK stakeholders, and fluency in both English and Mandarin is essential.

For a full description of the role, please send your CV with a brief paragraph outlining your relevant skills.

Closing Date: Early applications may be prioritised.
