Reporter - Healthcare News Agency

Are you an experienced and skilled  science based news Reporter or Editor with an interest in healthcare publishing? We are currently recruiting a Reporter/Senior Reporter to work for an international healthcare news portfolio. Based in their central London office, the Reporter/Senior Reporter will be responsible for sourcing, writing and sub-editing stories whilst playing a part in the general running of the service.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing stories as and when required matching the house style and specifications
  • Market awareness; providing stories of interest to subscribers (including pharmaceutical companies, regulators, analysts etc)
  • Covering a wide range of healthcare related topics including stories, clinical trials and financial results  as well as relevant political and legal news relevant to the industry
  • Accurately reporting on industry terminology, such as drug names and company/organisation names
  • Searching for additional information to enhance news stories, such as third-party comments and context of the piece
  • Building and maintaining strong industry relationships and contacts
  • Attending meetings and press conferences as required
  • Being able to guide overseas reporters on coverage, by building a well rounded knowledge of the service and audience
  • Working with a translator in an overseas office to ensure correct stories are taken from the partner site as required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven substantial experience as a medical/healthcare editor or reporter
  • Knowledge of and ability to write about healthcare/life sciences and relevant financial news and issues
  • Business to business experience
  • Fast, efficient and accurate writing skills
  • Excellent sub-editing skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of an multinational team
  • Relevant techniques and skills to develop stories through interview, research and investigation
  • Willingness to travel and work from home, if required
  • Life science degree (desired)

This role would suit an experienced reporter/editor with a background in healthcare who is looking for the opportunity to get 'under the skin' of current issues within the pharmaceutical indstry.
